Niñas De Corazón Group's story

Meet the communal group Niñas de corazón from Chinandega, Nicaragua. It is in its 33rd loan cycle and made up of eight clients. They are known for their solidarity and team work. The predominant businesses are: sales of clothing, tortillas, baked goods, cosmetics and perfume.

Lydia Marbelly (dressed in a grey shirt, black lycra pants, beige sandals) is 32 years old, married and has two female children aged 14 and 12 who are in school. Her partner works. Six people live in her home. Her business is selling baked goods and perfumes and has six years with it. What she likes about her business is that she runs it and she can see her earnings.

The challenges she has faced with her business come in the winter season when sales decrease and products go up in price. The loan is to invest in buying two hundredweights of corn, five pounds of cheese, one hundredweight of sugar, one truck of firewood and 10 unites of perfume.

Her future hopes and dreams is to grow the businesses. She advises that if women need support to launch a business they should visit Pro Mujer which provides a lot of support to women with the loans.

Help her to continue growing her business.
